Kalent vs Profilr: AI Sourcing Compared in 2026

The Profilr index carries no contact details, its own privacy policy says so. Kalent publishes 250 million enriched out of 850. 2026 comparison.

Kalent is the stronger choice for talent teams whose north star is placing candidates, because it returns profiles you can contact the same day rather than profiles you then have to go and enrich.

The Apec 2026 barometer of executive recruitment practices puts the average executive time-to-hire in France at 12 weeks. Kalent customers place in 10 days on average.

Profilr is a credible European tool. It combines open-web sourcing with outreach, rebuilds its index every month, and on its higher plans adds a module aimed at spotting companies that are hiring. This comparison runs both tools across eight criteria: the database, AI sourcing, candidate outreach, price, ATS integrations, compliance, workflow, and fit by team type. Every figure below was read on both vendors' public surfaces and documentation on 6 September 2026.

TL;DR:

  • Kalent removes the sorting, not just the searching. The agent widens the search, applies qualification criteria rather than filters, and returns ranked profiles with the reason for the match written next to each one.
  • Contact details sit in the database on one side, and outside it on the other. Profilr's privacy policy states: "The Profilr indexing database does not contain contact details (email, phone)." Kalent publishes 250 million profiles already enriched with verified contact details out of 850 million.
  • Four automated channels against three. Kalent runs email, LinkedIn, SMS and WhatsApp. SMS appears nowhere on Profilr's public surfaces.
  • ATS integration is listed on annual plans only at Profilr. The line appears three times on its grid, once per plan, and only in the annual-commitment cards. At Kalent it is an add-on on all three plans.
  • One subscription cannot be shared at Profilr. Its terms list account sharing among prohibited abusive uses. Five recruiters means five subscriptions.

Key facts

  • Kalent database: 850 million profiles, 250 million enriched with verified contact details
  • Profilr database: 250 million European profiles, index rebuilt monthly
  • Contact details inside the Profilr index: none, enrichment is a separate on-demand call
  • Kalent automated channels: email, LinkedIn, SMS, WhatsApp
  • Profilr automated channels: LinkedIn, email, WhatsApp
  • Kalent published security controls: 47, no login. Profilr: trust center page published, renders no content
  • Kalent average time to placement: 10 days
  • Measured, sourced reply rate, on either side: not published

How do Kalent and Profilr compare at a glance?

Kalent covers one chain, from role context to the message sent, and returns profiles you can contact right away. Profilr covers candidate sourcing and the agency's own business development, on an index it rebuilds every month. These are vendor statements, not field tests.

Fourteen criteria, and Kalent loses none of them. Both search with AI, both rank, both are built in France, and on those lines the question is settled. What separates them comes down to three facts: what the database contains at the moment you click, what leaves for the candidate, and what you have to sign to plug in your ATS.

Why do recruiters pick Kalent?

For the time saved detecting the best profiles. Five links, each checkable.

1. The Kalent agent widens the search past what the brief managed to express: adjacent titles, equivalent paths, the companies that train the same profile.

2. It applies qualification criteria, not filters. A filter cuts, a criterion judges.

3. It ranks, and it writes the reason for the match beside each profile.

4. The recruiter reads twenty ordered profiles instead of sorting five hundred. This is where the time is saved. Searching never took long. Sorting did.

5. Placement happens in 10 days on average, against the 12-week executive average published by Apec in its 2026 barometer.

In one sentence: Kalent cuts the time spent detecting the right profiles, because the agent widens the search, applies qualification criteria and ranks the results, which brings placement down to 10 days on average.

Which platform has the bigger CV database, and which one returns reachable profiles?

Profilr announces 250 million European profiles, the figure carried by the counters on its homepage. Kalent announces 850 million profiles, of which 250 million are enriched with verified contact details. The two numbers do not cover the same scope: Profilr's is exclusively European, Kalent's covers Europe and the United States with no published breakdown. On Europe alone, no relevé allows the two databases to be separated, and this page does not claim to.

The total is not the metric that decides a sourcing run. The number of reachable profiles is. And this is where the relevé separates the two products cleanly.

Profilr writes it itself, in its privacy policy: "The Profilr indexing database does not contain contact details (email, phone)." The same document specifies that enrichment "takes place only at a client's request, via a single provider established in the European Union" and that it is "separate from indexing". That is not a criticism, it is an architecture, and it is owned. It has one practical consequence: between the profile that comes back and the message that goes out, there is a call to a third party.

At Kalent, 250 million of the 850 million profiles already carry a verified contact detail. Going from the profile found to the message sent does not cross a second system. You do not need 500 profiles. You want 20, best to worst, with a way to reach them.

Neither tool gives access to a French CV database. Not France Travail, not Apec, not HelloWork. A CV database holds CVs uploaded by candidates in active search; an aggregated profile index, like Kalent's and Profilr's, starts from public professional profiles.

And neither publishes a geographic breakdown of its database. "French and European profiles" and "Europe and the United States" are not breakdowns. Ask both in the demo, and get the answer in writing.

How does AI sourcing work on each tool?

Both do AI sourcing on an aggregated index, with scoring. The gap is upstream and downstream of the search, not in the search itself.

At Kalent, context comes before sourcing. The Kalent agent takes the need, asks the questions that are missing, works out what the role really demands, what is negotiable and what is not. Then it applies qualification criteria, not filters, and returns an ordered list with the reason for the match written beside each profile. The recruiter fills in no search form and does not choose the order of the steps. That is the product's inversion: you do not use the tool, the tool uses what you know.

And the Kalent sourcing agent widens the search past what the recruiter managed to express. A brief written by hand locks sourcing inside the vocabulary of whoever wrote it. That is what separates a search from a sourcing run.

At Profilr, entry runs through uploading a job description. Its public page describes sourcing across the open web and inside your own ATS, HRIS and internal databases, AI scoring, open-to-work signal detection, contact enrichment, a collaborative talent pool and automated campaigns, for a shortlist returned "in seconds". The ranking criteria and the reason for the match are not publicly described, which is a demo question.

A second difference, and it is in their documentation. Profilr's privacy policy states that its AI assistance features are limited to "help with drafting messages" and "organising profiles", and that some generative model providers "may be located outside the European Union". The scope handed to AI is therefore narrower than a homepage suggests.

And Kalent starts where the recruiter already works. The Kalent MCP puts sourcing inside Claude: it starts in the conversation where the brief was already written (see the Kalent MCP). Profilr announces no MCP server, not on its public pages and not in its sitemap.

Which tool reaches candidates on more channels?

Kalent fires email, LinkedIn, SMS and WhatsApp from the same move, with a message written from the context gathered upstream rather than from a sequence template. Multichannel sequences are included in the Copilot plan and the Team plan (see our pricing).

At Profilr, the unified inbox covers LinkedIn, email and WhatsApp, with customisable automated campaigns and AI-suggested messages. SMS appears nowhere: not on its homepage, not on its grid, not in its privacy policy, not in its terms and conditions.

Why does one more channel matter? Because some candidates do not read their work email, others are no longer active on LinkedIn, and SMS reaches the ones who ignore both.

But a channel is only worth what you put in it. Four channels carrying a generic message are worth less than one carrying a message that shows you read the career. Qualification is what decides the reply rate. That is why context comes before contact at Kalent, and not the other way round.

Neither vendor publishes a measured, documented reply rate. Profilr shows "up to 70% reply rate" on its homepage, with no published methodology. A figure without a method is not a measurement, so no reply rate is used here, on either side.

How much do Kalent and Profilr cost in 2026?

Kalent does not sell on price. This block exists because it is the most typed question, and it does not close the page.

The Kalent grid, per licence:

PlanMonthlyAnnual
Sourcing149 EUR / month1,490 EUR / year
Copilot179 EUR / month1,790 EUR / year
Teamcustomcustom

Contact details included: 100 per month on monthly, 1,500 per year on annual. ATS integration and Claude MCP credits are add-ons on Sourcing and Copilot, included on Team. The same figures show as $149 and $179 on the US pricing page. No conversion is applied here.

The Profilr grid, displayed excluding tax:

PlanMonthly excl. taxAnnual excl. tax
Sourcing AI149 EUR / month1,250 EUR / year
Adchase AI299 EUR / month2,510 EUR / year
Ultimate AI380 EUR / month3,195 EUR / year

A quarterly toggle at minus 15% also exists, at 380, 760 and 970 EUR excluding tax per quarter. Prices verified September 2026.

Three things the price line does not say, and they come from the terms and conditions.

  1. Profilr's annual and quarterly plans are firm commitments. Its terms state that "any subscription is firm and final", that "any subscription period started is due in full", and that 30 days' notice is required before renewal. Only the monthly plan is commitment-free.
  2. No credit or contact-detail volume is displayed on Profilr's grid, where Kalent shows 100 contact details a month or 1,500 a year. Without that figure facing it, two prices do not compare.
  3. A Profilr subscription cannot be shared. Its terms list among prohibited abusive uses "the sharing or pooling of accounts allowing several unauthorised users to access a single subscription", with suspension or termination without refund. Its homepage, meanwhile, promotes a collaborative talent pool and a sourcing tool for teams.

A real team's invoice, on the candidate sourcing plan on each side:

The teamKalent SourcingProfilr Sourcing AI
1 recruiter149 EUR / month149 EUR excl. tax / month
3 recruiters447 EUR / month447 EUR excl. tax / month
5 recruitersthe Team plan, custom745 EUR excl. tax / month
This table compares invoices, not products. Profilr displays excluding tax, Kalent does not state its basis, and the two columns do not land in the same budget without checking.
At five recruiters, Kalent has a team plan and Profilr does not. Team includes ATS integration, a dedicated account manager and custom volumes. At Profilr, five recruiters means five subscriptions, since pooling is prohibited.

What ATS integrations, and which tier opens them?

This is the fact most easily missed in a demo, and it is not on a homepage.

Profilr announces more than 1,000 integrations with CRM, ATS and HRIS systems. None is named on its public pages. And its pricing grid is more precise than its promise: the "ATS/HRIS integration" line appears three times on that grid, once per plan, and only in the annual-commitment cards. The three monthly cards and the three quarterly cards do not mention it. A recruiter who takes the monthly plan to try it out is therefore not buying that line.

At Kalent, ATS integration is an add-on available on all three plans, with more than 50 ATS announced, including Teamtailor, Tellent, Workday and BoondManager, and it is included in the Team plan (see our integrations and our pricing).

The difference is not the principle, it is the shape. On both sides, plugging in your ATS costs something. At Kalent it is an option added to the plan you already have, without changing your commitment. At Profilr, the only purchase form that lists the integration is the one that commits you for twelve months.

And Kalent's "more than 50" and Profilr's "more than 1,000" do not compare directly. They almost certainly do not count the same thing. The only useful number is this one: is your ATS on the list, by name, and who confirms it in writing? An agency running BoondManager can check that at Kalent by reading a page.

How do Kalent and Profilr handle GDPR and the AI Act?

The date most pages still quote has been wrong since this summer. The AI Act's high-risk obligations did not start applying on 2 August 2026.

  • Recruitment is classified high risk, under Annex III of the EU AI Regulation.
  • Regulation (EU) 2026/1744, the AI Digital Omnibus, entered into force on 27 July 2026 and pushed Annex III obligations to 2 December 2027.
  • Postponed is not cancelled. Article 50, Chapter IX and Chapter XII have applied since 2 August 2026.

"Not mentioned" is not "absent". Profilr may hold a certification it does not publish. This table records what is published, not what exists.

What Profilr publishes and deserves credit for, because it is serious work: its privacy policy names its host, AWS inside the European Union, states its legal basis, the legitimate interest of Article 6(1)(f), and details its encryption, retention periods and objection mechanism. That is processing documentation, and it is well done.

But processing documentation is not a security audit, and the two do not answer the same procurement question. Kalent publishes a SOC 2 Type 2 report from an independent auditor, with 47 controls readable without a login. Profilr's own trust center exists in its sitemap, carries the title "Trust Center, security and compliance" and a description promising its protection practices: as of 6 September 2026, the page renders no content.

One last point only its documentation gives. Profilr's policy states that some technical providers, "in particular the generative AI model providers used for drafting assistance, may be located outside the European Union", framed by adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses. Its homepage says "servers hosted in Europe". Both sentences are true, and only the second is visible.

What does Profilr do better than Kalent?

Three things, and they are factual.

  1. It sells the agency's own business development, and Kalent does not. Its Adchase AI plan, at 299 EUR excluding tax a month, analyses job ads published on the web in the last 24 hours to spot companies that are hiring and identify the decision makers to contact, with a collaborative CRM. Kalent has no equivalent and is not trying to build one: that is sales prospecting, a different trade.
  2. It publishes a quantified freshness commitment, and Kalent does not. Its privacy policy commits to an index "entirely deleted then re-indexed every month", kept "30 days maximum", with no historical stock. That is a commitment written into a binding document, not a homepage promise, and few AI sourcing vendors make one. It covers the index alone, which as the same document says contains no contact details.
  3. Its grid offers a third billing cadence. Monthly, quarterly at minus 15%, annual at minus 30%, all displayed excluding tax and detailed line by line. Kalent shows monthly and annual only.

Which one suits a recruitment agency better?

Kalent, when the agency is paid to place candidates. The agent takes the client's need, applies qualification criteria, returns twenty ranked profiles with the reason for the match, then fires outreach on four channels. Placement lands in under two weeks. More than 50 ATS as an add-on, including BoondManager (see our agency page).

Profilr, when the agency's bottleneck is winning mandates rather than filling them. Adchase AI is genuinely aimed at that, and we have nothing like it.

Which one suits an in-house TA team better?

Kalent, and the reason is the team itself. Kalent publishes a Team plan with ATS integration included, a dedicated account manager and custom volumes. At Profilr, pooling a subscription is a prohibited use, so a five-person team means five subscriptions. See our enterprise page.

Kalent or Profilr: the verdict

Kalent. Both are French, both search with AI, both rank, and both publish serious privacy documentation.

What separates them is what happens between finding a profile and reaching the person. At Kalent, 250 million profiles out of 850 million already carry a verified contact detail, and four channels leave from one plan. At Profilr, the index carries no contact details at all, by design, and SMS is not offered. The ATS plugs in on any Kalent plan, and only on an annual Profilr commitment. And a Kalent Team plan exists where Profilr prohibits account pooling. Placement lands in 10 days on average, against a 12-week executive average published by Apec.

Agency business development and a monthly-rebuilt index are Profilr's terrain. Everything from context through to a candidate who replies is Kalent's.

Frequently asked questions

Is Kalent better than Profilr?

For candidate sourcing and multichannel outreach, yes. Kalent returns profiles already carrying verified contact details and runs four channels. Profilr is better for agencies that also want to prospect for new mandates.

Is Kalent a good Profilr alternative?

Yes, particularly for a team that needs to contact candidates the same day and wants to plug in its ATS without committing to twelve months.

How many profiles does Kalent have?

850 million profiles, of which 250 million are enriched with verified contact details. Profilr announces 250 million European profiles, in an index that by its own policy carries no contact details.

How much does Kalent cost per month?

Sourcing is 149 EUR a month, Copilot is 179 EUR a month, billed per licence. Team is custom. The same figures show as $149 and $179 on the US pricing page. See our pricing.
